I am Michelle. I am a passionate birth photographer who lives in Norfolk Virginia. I grew up in Florida and was brought to this beautiful state by my husband's job. We have grown to love the pace of this area and have decided that this is where we will call home even after his transition out of the military.

Ever since I was a little girl I have been fascinated by birth. I would wake up early in the morning to be able to watch "A Baby Story" and would cry along with the moms as they welcomed their new child earth side. I have always had a innate feeling that I would work with birth but never knew how. Fast forward to 2011 when I gave birth to my son and it all just fell into place. I knew that I had to work with moms in labor. I knew that I had to be there in some way to support them. Soon after his birth I started my journey as a doula. During the delivery of my first doula birth I was hit with the realization that I needed to document birth. Maybe a calling from God or the universe but I just knew. That night a baby was born and so was a birth photographer.

After a bunch of research, in a very short amount of time, I decided to pursue this career. Birth photography was a thing at that time but still very new to our community. In 2014 I decided that I wanted birth photography to be my full time job. No other kind of photography scratched that itch for birth. Since 2014 I have successfully grown my business into what it is today, a full time birth photography business. Even though some months it is slow, it is not about how many clients I can get a month. I am the type of person who values quality over quantity. I want families that are excited to embark on their journey and welcome me into their birth space. I do not just want to take pictures of your journey but I want to document it and preserve it in a artistic way.

My second love with my job is the empowerment of women. There is nothing more beautiful than a mom who walks away from having her child empowered. The radiant smile that she carries and her full heart. Even if their birth plans go out the window a mom can still be empowered by what they take away from their birth. I just want to show the beauty that birth holds. The natural and emotional aspects. I often have times after a gallery delivery where a mom contacts me and is in tears. She was so deep into labor that she did not know how strong she looked. While looking back on their images they realize that they are strong and capable women. They can see the power that their stories hold. This is why I chose birth photography. This is why I chose to work with women. We are amazing.
